how to overcome this flaw?

 It seems there's a shortcoming in preemptive (counter)thinking.

Nav pressed receiver, I said she was losing points with me, it actually worked!

I then put it back in the box never to be used again on the conclusion they surely she would adapt to it?  I mean why would that blade remain sharp and not be dull the next time?
